TEDxBroadway Summer Playlist

What are you doing this summer? Wait. Before you answer that, watch these talks. Turns out, what you do in the summer could actually have a much bigger impact on you year-round.

For example, we loved this talk by TEDxBroadway 2016 alum, Wesley Whatley: He took us down to the campfire, where he strums the guitar and invites us to sing along. Whatley is part of the team that produces America's largest Independence Day celebration -- Macy's 4th of July Fireworks. He talks about our longstanding relationship with music and fire, and how the combination of the two stirs our emotions and connects us to each other, and to past generations.

From TED, watch Stefan Sagmeister's talk on The Power of Time Off: Every seven years, designer Stefan Sagmeister closes his New York studio for a yearlong sabbatical to rejuvenate and refresh their creative outlook. He explains the often overlooked value of time off and shows the innovative projects inspired by his time in Bali.

And, finally, get your play on with Tim Brown: At the 2008 Serious Play conference, the designer talks about the powerful relationship between creative thinking and play -- with many examples you can try at home (and one that maybe you shouldn't).

What are we doing this summer? We'll be working on our next TEDxBroadway event, of course. But, we'll be sure to play, take some time off and gather around a few campfires, too.

Cheers,
The TEDxBroadway Team
